Description

This awareness course provides an overview of the most common defects and imperfections encountered during hot rolling mill operations and the steel pipe handling activities in the manufacturing of seamless steel pipes. The training focuses on defects identified through visual inspection and non‑destructive testing (NDT) techniques, covering both internal and outside pipe diameters, to support operational control and quality assurance in AMTPJ and JESCO plants.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Recognize common defects and imperfections generated during the hot rolling process.
  • Differentiate defects affecting the external and internal diameters of seamless pipes.
  • Understand the origin and typical causes of hot rolling mill defects.
  • Identify defects through visual inspection and basic NDT techniques.
  • Improve communication between operations and quality control teams regarding defect identification.
